About Us

The Charitable Trust was formed in the 1990s and is currently composed of a day care centre and a charity shop. The Trusts objectives are to establish, maintain and operate facilities within the parameters of medical health needs, particularly related to respite for short and long term guests. The Trust safeguards donations and funds within set guidelines, policed by the Charity Commission, and a Board of Trustees. The Trusts short term aim is to acquire additional land and then to raise funds in order to build facilities for RESPITE CARE WITH TWENTY-FOUR HOUR COVERAGE SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.

The Wellington Cottage Care Centre first opened in January 2002 and occupies the site of the former Wellington Cottage Hospital, which closed in 1990. The centre provides support for ADULTS WITH NURSING CARE NEEDS. Please see Our Centre for more information.

The Wellington Cottage Care Charity Shop has been in operation for nearly 15 years providing an Aladdin's cave of bric-a-brac, clothes, books, videos, toys and unusual items.  The net proceeds are added to the funds of the Trust to support the Centre, meet maintenance costs, repairs and other necessities. Donations of items for sale are gratefully received and a team of helpful shop staff are on hand to assist and advise. Opening hours are available on the contact us page.

The Wellington Cottage Care Staff:
At the Day Care Centre we have a registered nurse on duty at all times along with a team of trained health care assistants, therapists, tutors, volunteers and drivers.
