Queens Award for Voluntary Service 2014

Queens Award for Voluntary Service

The Wellington Cottage Care Trust received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the wonderful work done by around 40 volunteers.

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is an annual award made to recognise and reward excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community.

It is given for outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers who regularly devote their time to helping others in the community, improving the quality of life and opportunity for others and providing an outstanding service.

Wellington Cottage Care received a certificate signed by The Queen and a commemorative piece of crystal for display at the Day Care Centre.

The Award was presented on behalf of The Queen by the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire at the Award Presentation Ceremony and Afternoon Party in the Day Care Centre on Friday 1st August 2014, at 2:00 - 4:00pm.

Bryan Benham, Chair of Trustees, on behalf of the Trust Board, said that he is delighted that the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of the volunteers have been recognised by this prestigious Award.

He also praised the paid staff who work with the volunteers, supporting and training them and enabling them to develop in skills and confidence.
